Why Dierenkliniek 't Harde Ven?
Suitable care is our priority
At Dierenkliniek ‘t Harde Ven, we believe in the importance of health care fitting both your pet and your own situation. The welfare of your pet is our priority, we will do our best to discuss the options with you in each phase of your pet’s life for both preventative and curative care. In some cases certain treatment options are not possible due to an individual situation, for example difficulty giving medication. Feel free to let us know about limitations, we will happily discuss how to work around them.
Independent veterinary clinic
Dierenkliniek ‘t Harde Ven is an independent veterinary clinic. We have chosen to remain independent as this allows us to stay in control of our patient care and the well-being of our team.
However, we do find it important to work together with our local colleagues. In recent years, the possibilities for treatment have expanded considerably, so it is impossible for a single veterinarian or practice to be the best at everything. We know our qualities, but also know when it is better to refer you to a colleague or specialist. We also work together with colleagues from the region for emergency services outside of regular opening hours.
Never too old to learn
As a veterinarian or as a veterinary nurse, it is extremely important to stay on top of new developments in veterinary medicine. We regularly attend courses to keep our knowledge and skills up to date. We also recognise the importance of helping future colleagues start their careers with the right skills, that is why we regularly have interns, for example veterinary nurses in training.
Ethical and sustainable practice
As a clinic, we believe it is important to work sustainably in the broadest sense of the word. This means that we are careful with prescribing medication, for example with antibiotics and anti-parasitics. We also try to purchase as sustainably as possible, limit the number of orders and suppliers to prevent unnecessary transport and limit our waste as much as possible. In addition, we take good care of ourselves and each other, so that we stay healthy at work.
We also like to contribute to better welfare for of all pets in the Netherlands. Our veterinarian Tierney has been the voluntary chairperson of the Sophia-Vereeniging since 2020. This is an animal welfare organization that informs (potential) owners about their pets, teaches children to recognize dog behavior to prevent biting incidents, and lobbies in The Hague for better national legislation to protect our pets.
